College Mains Housing Scheme

We’re delighted here at Lotus Electrical to be working once again with Ashleigh Scotland, having been commissioned to work on a further new build housing scheme.

Energy Efficient Homes at College Mains, Dumfries

The client for the new development at College Mains, Dumfries is Loreburn Housing Association, and Phase One of the project consists of 42 homes, to be designed with a focus on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies.

Loreburn Housing Association’s vision is to create great places to live, providing new energy efficient homes for their customers.

The Loreburn Development Team is working with the Scottish Government to help meet their targets of 50,000 new homes by 2021,  and have committed to delivering 350 new homes over the next 3 years, including the development at College Mains in Dumfries.

As the main contractor to quote for design layout for the new build housing,  Lotus Electrical was invited to cost the project to specific electrical specifications and to propose a complete solution for the client in the most economic fashion. Including the choice of Solar PV Panel Installation, sockets and switches and street lighting.

Lotus previously worked with Ashleigh on a similar project in Gretna - 47 affordable homes built on the former Halcrow dog racing track, which featured integrated 1kW Solar PV panels for maximum energy efficiency.

Solar PV Installation

Each home in the build will feature a roof-based 1kw Solar PV panel to meet the energy efficiency standards demanded by the client. Lotus chose black REC solar panels were chosen to blend in with the roof.

The choice of equipment and layout was all contractor design. Lotus chose modern style wall lighting and bollards for outside lighting around the block of flats.

Phase 1 completion of the College Mains Project is expected towards the end of 2019.
